The Golden Egg on World Tour
The Golden Egg is about to make its Midwestern, Japanese, and Canadian premiere next week. In fact, over the span of 2 days it will screen in Michigan, Tokyo, and Toronto. I won’t be able to go to all three, but the Short Shorts Film Festival in Japan is sponsoring me to fly and stay in Tokyo for a week, and welp, I’m pretty excited. I’ll try to post some pictures while I’m there to give you a sense of what film festivals are like in other countries. Wow.
If you happen to be any of these places next week, you should definitely go! Read below for screening times:
Short Shorts Film Festival in Tokyo, Japan
I was VERY lucky to get accepted at this one– only 2% of the 3000 entries got in. Apparently they take the festival on a world tour of Japan, Singapore, LA, San Diego, and Tijuana, but I haven’t heard anything about that yet. Who cares! Shinjuku, here I come.
Screening in the International Program
June 7th 19:50 - 21:40 at Brillia Short Shorts Theater
June 8th 13:20 - 15:10 at Laforet Museum Harajuku
June 11th 11:14 - 13:05 at Laforet Museum Harajuku
June 13th 11:15 - 13:05 at Laforet Museum Harajuku
Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck, Michigan
This is a pretty hot festival rated #5 by SAG and also pretty high by FilmThreat. They apparently house all the filmmakers in one small hotel during the festival, and it sounds like I’ll be missing a lot of fun. My short is screening with the feature “Goliath,” a film by the famous Zellner Brothers of Austin. It premiered at Sundance - I saw it at SXSW. I even met Nathan Zellner at a panel he was speaking at– very cool cat.
June 13th at 9pm
June 14th at 4:30pm
Worldwide Short Film Festival in Toronto, Canada
A very up-and-coming film festival quoted by Variety to be “the largest short film market event in North America.”
June 1th2 at 7pm
June 14th at 12pm
Thanks to everybody who helped with the film! Let me know if any of you catch a screening.
