Graffiti. Open Source. Lasers. Combine all three and you’ve got a special blend of Viagra for anyone who works at Wired magazine. You’ve got something pretty damn cool. You’ve got Laser Tag, and you’ve got it for free.

I’m not a tagger. I’m not very X-treme. I’m a little intimidated by snowboarders and cliffdivers. But I’m very interested in the intersection between tech and art, cool and practical, and this piece of software by some Dutch developers fits the bill.
Introducing Laser Tag. Multi-platform, open-source software for tagging “graffiti” with the help of high powered projectors and lasers! Align a high-powered projector, shine a laser pointer at a surface as big as a building, and the software draws and projects strokes to match your moves. And, like a lot of things designed for one purpose, I know that there are a lot more uses for this than first meet the eye. Immersive interactive art on a civic scale. Competition and collaboration writ large. There’s a lot of potential here. But enough words.
