Give Someone Flower this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is on a Saturday this year. Which means if you don’t have reservations yet, you’re probably screwed. And even if you do, you’re out with every other gross couple or sad single making the best of one of our more emotionally-unstable holidays. And that’s cool, and it’s gonna happen, but let me take a moment and offer you an alternative.
You and that special someone could curl up on the couch and spend two hours rolling in green meadows with flower petals softly drifting in the breeze. You could just spend that time bringing beauty somewhere. Because that’s flower, the new downloadable PS3 game from our good friends at thatgamecompany.

This is the game. It’s about flowers and the wind and, quite honestly, it’s about beauty. You’ll finish it in about the time it takes to see a movie, and it’s the kind of thing worth doing on V-Day because it’s special.
If you have a PS3 and you’re a gamer couple, this is my #1 recommendation for how to spend the day. (Other than the smug, smug sex of two people who have found a partner who enjoys such pursuits).
If you’re half of that couple and have been looking for a way to share something you love with someone who doesn’t think games are for them… well that’s what my friends Kellee and Jenova do.
And if you’re the type of person who’s been wanting to believe that games are going to transcend all the labels and boxes critics, political opportunists and other troglodytes keep trying to impose on games… this is the kind of thing that’s going to lead the revolution.
