A while back…everything blurs together, but maybe it was a year or two ago, we did some animations for the movie “One Day Like Rain,” a feature directed by our good ol’ pal Paul Todisco (who’s written with the likes of Guy Ritchie and practiced Yoga with Madonna!). Well, since that little movie came out, it soldout at Seattle International Film Festival, is headed to a festival in Amsterdam, and recently got reviewed on this website:

The review features a couple of great stills from our animation sequences. Quiet Earth is a website that is “dedicated to genre film and everything Post Apocalyptic.” I find that pretty hilarious.
Pretty good article over at NewTeeVee, apparently tonight YouTube is launching new TubeMogul-like analytics for your videos.
The cool part looks to be these maps that show you how popular your video is all over the world.
The site is down right now as I post this (they are making the very site updates I speak of) but I’m excited to check it out tomorrow. We are HUGE in Canada, and I can’t wait to have more proof of this. I’m also super curious about what states our videos are most popular in. Then we can compare with a map of Hillary/Obama delegates.
… or just drunk on the beer that was consumed in quantities at NewTeeVee’s shindig at Cat & Fiddle last night. Congrats to Liz on her new endeavor, and thanks to the gang from NewTeeVee for throwing the fete. I’ve missed these meetups, and it was good to get out and meet some people and meet again some older contacts. Looking forward to the next one!
Plus! A two-part trivia game!

1) What emotion is Sarah experiencing in this photo?
2) What did I say to her to cause it?
The winner gets a small box of mementos!
As may not be apparent by our pictures of foosball tables and playing with Lego, we do a ton of work here, and since we don’t actually have the time right now to update the website, I thought we should at least mention one of our latest projects, Slacker.
Slacker Personal Radio is web radio that learns what music you like and adapts itself accordingly. You can listen on the web, or buy their Portable player and listen on planes, in trains, and even inside large cabinets if that’s your thing, jelly bean. OH MY GOD, but I don’t even have to tell you about it, because we made this video:
I finally met the guys from Slacker at the SXSW Music Fesival, at the Blender/Slacker after party, at around 2 or 3 in the morning. Our videos were playing in the main tent of the party while everyone was drunk on free beer and getting down to the likes of Diplo, A-Trak, and the Cool Kids. Slacker is based in San Diego, and we actually completed the entire project without ever having met face to face. See the rest of our suite of videos over at
Frank Miller, you ass hat. You’ve finally made your dystopic vision of the future a reality. Please compare and contrast. A shot from Miller’s 1986 opus “The Dark Knight Returns”:
Silver clad 80s future indy news woman interviews AT&T whistleblower about telecom immunity:
So I saw this billboard on Sunset - coming soon… “Moonvertising.” It turns out it’s a Rolling Rock campaign where you write with “lasers” on the “moon” in their website. Kind of a letdown. Although I still can’t quite tell if they’re really going to try to do it. Stupid viral ARG marketing universe.
My initial reaction was twofold:
1) That is horrible. Is nothing sacred? I can’t believe we live in a world where people think it’s OK to put advertising on the moon!
2) I kind of want to live in a world where we can write with lasers on the moon.
These conflicted emotions are exactly the sort of feelings I have about cloning, teleportation, and a lot of other technologies that seem dangerous, but too cool to pass up. Then i started reading some of the comments that people “wrote on the moon”:
“Chompers, I love you, love, Nummies.”
“I love all my schmoopies”
“I will forerver [sic] yours, we will live forever”
If this is the level of moon discourse, maybe its better we just keep our lasers and things down here.
ps- This also reminds me of that episode of the Tick when Chairface tries to write his name on the moon, but runs out of space and only gets as far as “CHA.”
